## Information We Collect
In connection with our SMS program, we collect:
– **Mobile phone number** — the number to which SMS messages are sent.
– **Name** — to identify the account or employee record associated with the number.
– **Message content and delivery data** — records of messages sent and received (e.g., STOP/HELP replies), for compliance and support purposes.
– For customers submitting the contact form: the additional information provided on that form (company name, email, service needed, and comments).
We do not collect mobile phone numbers for SMS purposes from any source other than the methods described below.
## How We Collect and/or Obtain Information
– **Customers:** Phone numbers are collected directly from the individual through the SMS consent checkbox on our contact form at [https://starrtech.net/contact/](https://starrtech.net/contact/). Checking the box is an affirmative, opt-in action; the number is not collected for SMS purposes unless this box is checked.
– **Employees:** Phone numbers are collected directly from the employee as part of onboarding paperwork, at the time the employee is issued access to internal company systems that require SMS-based two-factor authentication.
## How We Use Information
We use the collected phone number solely to send the SMS messages described in this policy:
– **Two-factor authentication (2FA):** Verification codes sent to employees to confirm their identity when logging into internal company systems (e.g., remote monitoring and management tools, the support ticketing system, VPN).
– **Customer care:** Service and support messages sent to customers, including support ticket status updates and appointment reminders.
We do not use SMS contact information for marketing messages, and message content is never repurposed for any use beyond the program described here.
## Information We Share
SMS consent and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes are not shared, sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
We may share information with service providers who help us operate the SMS program itself (e.g., our SMS/text messaging platform provider), solely for the purpose of delivering these messages, and with mobile carriers as needed to transmit messages. We do not sell personal information.
## Information Security and Data Retention
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect phone numbers and related SMS program data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, consistent with the security practices Starr Computer Solutions applies to client and internal systems generally.
We retain phone numbers and SMS program records for as long as needed to operate the program and to demonstrate compliance with opt-in/opt-out requirements — for customers, for the duration of the customer relationship plus a reasonable period afterward; for employees, for the duration of employment plus a reasonable period afterward. A number is removed from active messaging immediately upon an opt-out (STOP) request, though a record of the opt-out is retained to ensure it continues to be honored.
